“What mountain dining tastes like”
All of the mountain huts along the Karwendel High Altitude Trail believe in the Alpine Association initiative „So schmecken die Berge“ (“What mountain dining tastes like”). Following the motto “as local and regional as possible”, your mountain hut hosts try to use regional products whenever they can, with the aim of maintaining the alpine cultural landscape so indicative of the mountain farming lifestyle. Locally-sourced ingredients also mean shorter transportation times, which of course helps add to the freshness and the flavours of the food on your table!

Hiking with your dog
If you want to take your four-legged friend with you on the High Altitude Trail, you need to find out in advance if the various huts on the different stages are suitable for dogs. You should also clarify with each individual mountain hut host if dogs are allowed. For contact details, see: Contact

Electricity
You can really switch off on the Karwendel High Altitude Trail – especially as there is only limited reception for mobile phones in the mountain huts and along large proportions of the route. In general, mobile phones should only be switched on if absolutely necessary or in the case of an emergency as there are no battery charging possibilities in the huts. Should you need to/want to use your mobile more often during the hike, you should bring your own additional battery pack.
