From East to West

From Scharnitz to Reith in six days through the mountain massif of the Karwendel.

The route is the goal

Clockwise through the Karwendel

From east to west runs the Karwendel Höhenweg trail from Scharnitz to Reith near Seefeld. On six stages the mountaineers get to know the impressive Karwendel mountains better. Overnight stays are at the five Alpine Club huts along the way.

Stage 6: Scharnitz – Hallerangerhaus

We leave the hustle and bustle of the valley and hike through the Hinterautal, always along the turquoise-blue Isar, far into the rugged heart of the Karwendel Mountains.

Etappe 6

Stage 5: Hallerangerhaus – Bettelwurfhütte

From the Hallerangerhaus hut the path leads over the Lafatscher Joch to the “Eagle’s Nest of the Karwendel”. Nearby, the Isar river has its source here, which is therefore a Tyrolean in its origin.

Etappe 5

Stage 4: Bettelwurfhütte – Pfeishütte

There are already illustrations on the Stempeljoch from the Innsbruck mountaineering company “Wilde Bande”, which was founded in 1878 and also built the trail of the same name between Stempeljoch and Lafatscher Joch.

Etappe 4

Stage 3: Pfeishütte – Solsteinhaus

A border crossing between the rocky Karwendel massif and the heavily populated Inn valley awaits mountaineers on the third stage of the Karwendel Höhenweg trail.

Etappe 3

Stage 2: Solsteinhaus – Nördlinger Hütte

After the long third stage, you have breakfast this morning on the cosy Solsteinhaus hut. Well fortified, you will start the next stage, which leads with spectacular views over the Erlsattel and the original saddle to the Nördlinger Hütte hut.

Etappe 2

Stage 1: Nördlinger Hütte – Reith bei Seefeld

From the Nördlinger Hütte hut via the Schartlehnerhaus the last stage of the Karwendel Höhenweg trail leads down to Reith bei Seefeld. At the train station in Reith you can finally take the train home and review the past days.
