Hallerangerhaus

The steep mountain backdrop around the Hallerangerhaus complements the pretty alm pastureland beautifully. The rock faces could tell many a tale of climbers from years gone by and today there are still plenty of people eager to take on an alpine challenge.

Mountain Hut – Swabia Section

ALPINE ASSOCIATION HUT WITH NORTH FACE VISTA

The hut was built on its present position in 1915 after avalanche damage and it has been adapted several times since, including a complete overhaul in 2017, to bring it into line with present day demands. The Hallerangerhaus is a popular base for long-distance hikers on the way to Venice, as well as for pure alpinists, and it can offer overnight accommodation for up to 76 people. Around the hut there are numerous climbing possibilities of various degrees of difficulty and safety needs.

Thomas Lehner has been running the Hallerangerhaus since the spring of 2011. Not only does he know the mountains in the immediate vicinity, he is also very familiar with all the other summits and ridges in the Karwendel. As a qualified mountain-walking guide and former member of the Tyrolean mountain rescue, Thomas is the ideal person to ask for information about hiking trails, climbing routes and other activities in the mountains. For Thomas, local food and lively conversation with his guests make for the perfect life in a mountain hut.
