Due to renovation work, the Nördlinger Hut will be closed from September 2026 until the start of the 2028 season. During this time, the hut will not be open for business (no overnight accommodation or refreshments available!). The last night’s accommodation will be on 16 August 2026, and day business will continue until 30 August 2026.
The Karwendel Höhenweg trail can still be used, but a few adjustments are necessary.
Option 1 (stage 1 with cable car support + stage 2): The starting point is the valley station of the Rosshütte Bergbahnen in Seefeld. Take the funicular to Rosshütte and continue with the Härmelekopfbahn to the starting point of the hike (2045 m). From here, either take the direct route via Kuntersteig (approx. 1 hour) or the steep and exposed route via Härmelekopf and Reither Spitze (approx. 1.5 hours) to the Nördlinger Hütte. Without an overnight stay or stop for refreshments, continue to the Solsteinhaus (see stage 2). The route can also be taken in the opposite direction!
Variant 2 (stage 1 + stage 2 on foot): Very fit mountaineers can simply combine stage 1 and stage 2 and walk from the starting point in Reith bei Seefeld via the Nördlinger Hut (but without overnight stay/refreshments) directly to the Solsteinhaus (approx. 1500 m uphill, 800 m downhill, 13.2 km long with a walking time of approx. 8:30 hours). The trail can also be walked in the opposite direction!
Option 3 (without stage 1 + without stage 2): You can also ascend directly from the valley to the Solsteinhaus and start the Karwendel Höhenweg here (see Solsteinhaus > Access options). The trail can also be walked in the opposite direction!
