Bettelwurfhütte
As one of the oldest mountain refuges in the Karwendel Nature Park, the Bettelwurfhütte has an eye-catching location high above the Hall valley, and its rustic interior is just as impressive.

Alpine Association Hut with History
Originally built in 1894 by the alpine club, the “Wilde Bande” (wild gang), the Bettelwurfhütte has been extended several times. It now offers simple and homely overnight accommodation for up to 60 alpine enthusiasts with guests’ well-being and comfort as top priority. From the sun terrace overlooking the Inn valley and the Tux alps, you can truly appreciate the alpine surroundings away from mass tourism and with no mountain lifts nearby. Nature Park tip: “chamoix guarantee” is perhaps a bit exaggerated, but there is a good chance of a close encounter up here!

The Bettelwurfhütte is the most exposed and the most traditional refuge in the Karwendel Nature Park. Everything has to be brought up to the hut via a goods lift as there is no forest trail access. Working here presents a number of challenges. Caro and Wolfgang have taken these on and have been the tenants of the Bettelwurf Hut since 2026.
Caro and Wolfgang met at a hut almost six years ago and quickly realised that they both had the same vision for their professional future, which is also their calling: to run a high-altitude mountain hut that can only be reached on foot, with a gondola lift far away and the mountaineering community spending several days on the mountain and thus already somewhat grounded. Both love traditional cuisine, regional and varied, with something for everyone, from goulash to Kaiserschmarrn.
